The main ingredients in chilli are great sources of fiber and protein.
Lean ground beef is a great source of protein, beans and vegetables provide fiber. Chilli con carne is a healthy option, especially when prepared at home since you choose all the fresh ingredients you want to add and also control the sodium level. Below is a hearty and simple recipe.  Make a giant batch and freeze leftovers for a quick and fresh meal when you don’t have much time to cook. Enjoy the recipe!
Ingredients:
-1 lb ground beef
-cooked pinto, kidney and black beans
-1 serrano chile
-1/2 bell pepper
-2 jalapenos
-2 pepperoncinis
-1/2 onion
-6 minced garlic cloves
-1/2 tomato
-tomato sauce
-Tabasco sauce
-pepper, sea salt, basil, oregano, paprika, crushed pepper flakes and onion powder to taste
Preparation:
- Cook and season ground beef until meat is brown.
- Heat a bit of cooking oil in a large pot. Chop the onion, garlic, serrano chile, bell pepper, jalapenos, pepperoncinis, and tomato, and toss them in once the oil is hot. Sautee them for a few minutes then add the cooked ground beef. Stir everything together and season with pepper, onion powder, basil, oregano, paprika, pepper flakes and salt to taste.
- Pour between 1/2 cup to 1 cup of tomato sauce. ( if you want your chilli thicker pour less sauce.)
- Add cooked pinto, kidney and black beans to the pot and warm the chilli for 15-20 minutes. Add Tabasco sauce depending on how spicy you like your chilli.
